  • Is your hair shedding when you comb and/or brush it? Believe it or not shedding is a natural part the growth stage, called catagen. You have two types of shedding, healthy shedding and unhealthy shedding
    • Healthy shedding is actually good for hair growth. It prepares your follicles to produce new hair.
    • Unhealthy shedding is when your hair needs a good trim. Shampoo, condition and a trim will stop unhealthy shedding. Ask your professional what kind a condition will be right for you. “Not all cases will need conditioning to stop shedding.”
  • How to recognize if you have split ends. Split ends are one strand of hair that splits on the tip into multiple strands. For long hair, when you hold your hair away from your head can you see through your tips? “Do you have split ends?” The best way to care for your ends is to trim just your ends. You don’t have to cut your hair.

The next blog to come will speak on transitioning for relaxed to natural hair and chemical usage.
